25 Songs: Soundtrack of My Life

I think in our lives, we all have a soundtrack. We all have those songs inside our playlist that we just keep coming back to. Sometimes it's more than just a pretty melody or some nice lyrics, but it's because the song makes its way into our hearts. In moments like these, we realize that this song relates to us a little bit more than the other songs. There's just a certain connection with it that clicks with you.

Out of all the things that have happened in my life, I've found plenty of songs that I could put in as the soundtrack of my life. Sometimes it's about love, sometimes it's about self-confidence, and many other things. Here are the songs in my playlist that I put in as the soundtrack of my life:
  1. All This Time by Britt Nicole
  2. Blackbird by The Beatles
  3. Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson
  4. Defying Gravity from Wicked
  5. Clean by Taylor Swift
  6. Drops of Jupiter by Train (Taylor Swift's cover is what I listen to the most)
  7. Even My Dad Does Sometimes by Ed Sheeran
  8. Get It Right by Glee (Lea Michele)
  9. Home by American Authors

  11. I Wanna Be Like Me by Sara Bareilles
  12. Innocent by Taylor Swift

The Best of NYFW Fall 2015

Hello, lovely readers.

I hope you've all been having a spectacular week. As you know, New York Fashion Week's Fall 2015 shows had been taking place, and now we see it everywhere. Magazines, articles, even Snapchat stories (which are literally the next big thing, by the way). I'm loving all the vibes from this fashion week because I really adore seeing all these beautiful masterpieces from so many different designers.

The thing I love most about fashion weeks, aside from the obvious social media explosion, would definitely be how inspiring it actually is to witness it come to life. All the details, from the garments, to the hair and makeup, to the accessories. It is literally the peak of the fashion world, and it makes me want to chase my dreams even more. I love seeing all the HQ photos (backstage and runway) as well as observing every palette the designers used. It's pure art!

So this time, I decided to wrap up the New York Fashion Week of Fall 2015 by highlighting my favourite looks out of my personal favourite collections. These are the ones that I think stood out the most and deserve an applause. I just love fall, and I love these pieces because they're so classy and elegant, and just pure brilliance overall. Here are my picks (in alphabetical order):

1. Altuzarra

2. Carolina Herrera

3. Diane von Furstenberg

4. Marchesa

5. Naeem Khan

6. Oscar de la Renta

7. Rachel Zoe

8. Rebecca Minkoff

9. Vera Wang

Do you follow up on fashion weeks? What was your fave collection in the recent NYFW? Is it listed above? Leave a comment below!

How I Spent My Valentine's Day

Last week, I spent a pretty great Valentine's Day surrounded by many people I love. It was a Saturday so it turned out pretty great because school didn't really get in the way. I had such a great day and so these are several moments that I wanted to highlight and share on this post.

  1. In the student body council, I work in the division where we run the school's social media accounts and basically become the school's PR. One of our ideas was to set up a news centre by the entrance because there wasn't any at that time. We finally got the school to put up a soft board and so there, we put up articles that we typed in and prepared for the students to see. This month, it was themed (obviously) Valentine's Day. At the right side of the board, we set up this section where the students can literally pull out a post-it note, and write down about what they think love is. It became a big deal to them and after about a week, the section of the board was 100% filled with post-it notes and we eventually ran out of post-its! We had some great responses. Some students wrote down their names, some wrote down quotes, some wrote down jokes. Basically, it was cool to finally see the students interact with us and tell us what they think through what my friend and I had made!
  2. One of the best parts of this year's Valentine's Day was definitely spending time in one of my best friends' houses and joining in a wonderful sleepover with my best friends. Fun fact: There's 13 of us. Even though only 8 of us got to sleep over because the other 5 weren't allowed, we still had so much fun. We played charades, truth or dare, ordered pizza and hot wings (which came to the house nearly 2 hours after we made the call), watched a late night movie, and had such a blast. The picture above is actually this type of Chinese buns called Mantou. Basically, they're super soft and yummy and had chocolate fillings and wow, just try it when you can, guys
  3. Also one of the highlights of my Valentine's Day was definitely when some of my friends from church decided to hold an event where we visit a local orphanage and spread love to little kids. So this time, one of our mentors wanted me to be in charge of the whole event, so I took care of a lot of the things that went down and it was basically a lot of fun seeing these kids smile and laugh. It wasn't an orphanage, but it was actually a small place that my teacher built at her home made for the local kids who weren't getting enough education. They came to this place to read, to learn, and to have fun. It was packed with so many kids running around, and it also had tons of books on the shelves and pictures on the walls. We donated stuff like colouring materials and story books, but we also came in and played games, made some crafts, and did a cooking class with these children. We taught them how to colour, how to write, how to be creative, and it was basically such an amazing experience. I always love the idea of giving and helping those in need, so making these kids happy certainly made me happy as well.
  4. When I got to school on Monday, one of my classmates named Grace gave me this! It was literally the sweetest thing. So it turns out that Grace made these heart-shaped cookies with customized icing for every girl in our class as well as some of her closest buddies. The icing was simple yet so pretty and the cookie was delicious. Her mom actually runs a patisserie, or something similar, and so Grace likes to bake in her spare time. She made and decorated each cookie by herself with no help from her mom, so I totally appreciated this and it was so nice of her. Last year, we also shared the same class and she made us chocolate shaped like the Eiffel Tower, and she put our names on it as well. I received a bunch of chocolate from many different people in school which was quite lovely, and for 3 of my closest best friends, I got each of them a chocolate bar and a Bath & Body Works product, wrapped together with a red bow and attached a love letter written for each of them as well.
  5. On Valentine's Day, I kind of still wanted to not ruin my diet (although I kind of did for a while there) so I had this salad for dinner at a local restaurant just about 5 minutes from home. I only ordered this with a glass of water because I really didn't want to start gaining back the weight I successfully lost (*cough*, 5 pounds) and it is probably the best Caesar's Salad that we have around here. I had dinner with one of my girlfriends and we talked and shared about so many things. I found myself actually venting to her about so many things that I never thought I would share with anyone. It was definitely a great evening and we only spent about an hour or more, but we joked and had fun and basically, I felt like being single was definitely okay for me.
So overall, my Valentine's Day wasn't spent with "a special someone" or a significant other, but I still had such a wonderful day. I experienced love and happiness from so many different people and places, and made wonderful memories along with my family and friends. This year, we also have my baby nephew who is currently staying at our place along with my sister and brother-in-law until they can finally sort things out and move back to their apartment. That has added so much happiness to my days and I can't wait to experience even more spectacular moments this year.

Compared to last year's Valentine's Day, I must admit, this year felt a lot different. So much has happened and so much has changed since, but I'm still very grateful for all the people and the things I have in my life right now. And no grandma, I simply do not have room for a boyfriend at the moment.

How did you spend your Valentine's Day? I'd love to hear all about it. Leave a comment below!

SUNDAY INSPIRATION 002: Valentine's Day Outfit Ideas

Happy Sunday!

It's February 15th, and I am so excited to finally share with you the second post of my "Sunday Inspiration" series. For this post, I kind of decided to scavenge through Pinterest for a while to gather all looks related to love and sweetness and romance. In honour of Valentine's Day, I wanted to show you many different looks that make you look like you're in love.

It's perfect for date outfit ideas for Valentine's Day events, or even if you actually don't have a significant other this Valentine's Day but still want to look pretty and loveable this year. "Dressing like you're in love" here refers to wearing skirts or dresses, looking extra feminine, extra graceful, with touches of florals and shades of pink all around. You want to look sexy, but subtle. Pretty, but modest. Attractive, but classy. The thing is, you don't have to be in love with someone else to dress like you're in love. Fashion is a form of self-love. That's what I like about it. I love all these looks and I hope you do too. Here is your weekly dose of Sunday Inspiration. Enjoy!

What did you wear on Valentine's Day? Do you like to dress like you're in love?
Hope you all have a lovely weekend! Coming up will be a post on how I spent my Valentine's Day. Stay tuned!

From the girl who has a lot to say about love,

Thoughts on Grammys 2015 Red Carpet Fashion

Hey there, everyone!

As I'm sure you've heard, a few days ago, the 2015 Grammy Awards took place and as always, it was a spectacular event that everyone basically anticipated and got excited about. I really adored how the event turned out. I was kind of sad that Taylor Swift didn't win anything (because "1989" deserves 10 Grammys in my opinion), but I'm very happy for Sam Smith and his big night with 4 wins this year. He absolutely deserved it, his music is beautiful and very soulful, and his voice is pure brilliance.

So of course, other than the actual event, the thing I was mostly excited about was seeing the red carpet looks this year. There were a lot of interesting looks this year, but I'm so excited to share with you some of my personal favourites and my personal least favourites.

BEST DRESSED:

I am not a big fan of Nicki Minaj, but I must say, her look slayed the carpet. I actually adore how she looks. Sure, it's a little too much on the upper part, but I think it's amazing that she's strutting her curves. The dress falls stunningly on her, and her hair and makeup deserves a round of applause. I didn't expect to put her on my Best Dressed list, but this is an obvious development compared to the whole Pope business.

I also did not think that I would put Miley Cyrus on my Best Dressed list. Nothing against her, but I'm also not a big fan of her personally. Don't get me wrong, her music is great, but the twerking kind of did it for me. But anyway, I think she pulled off an ultra-gorgeous look in this year's Grammys! I love the dress and how it shows some serious skin, but it still wraps around her and honestly, she looks pretty great.

Need I say more? My queen definitely won at this year's Grammys. If it's not a Grammy, then it's definitely a Best Dressed. She looks absolutely stunning, this dress looks like heaven on her. It perfectly complements her tall figure, and I am in love with how simple her hairstyle is, as well as the subtle but stunning makeup. The silhouettes are brilliant, the colour of the dress is simply breathtaking, and I love that Taylor paired it with those gorgeous shoes in a different colour. Point is, Elie Saab never fails, like ever.

I didn't know about what Anna was wearing until I was scavenging through some Grammys red carpet galleries and found her. Can I just.... breathe??? Wow. Just, wow. Anna was stunning in the Golden Globes, and this? Again? I totally believe that she's getting a bit more credit these days and she is definitely taking a promising and extraordinary turn in fashion. How must I explain how much I love this? The hair, the makeup: Gorgeous. The actual outfit is so sharp and it's actually brilliant. Like sure, she's gonna wear a suit to the Grammys. Aside from Taylor, this is my ultimate favourite outfit.

I personally expected a lot more from Queen B, but this look still did not disappoint at all. The dress is gorgeous on her, and I really love how she just glows. The simple hair looks great on Beyonce, and even if I wished she would've put on more makeup on her eyes, she still looks stunning from top to bottom!

WORST DRESSED:

Okay, okay, okay. Zendaya. I love her, yes. Very much. I've always thought that she was truly an amazing young celebrity who were about to go places. I still do. But this is not working for me. Some of you might like it, but I definitely do not. Okay, I like the slit that showcases her perfect legs, but other than that, there's nothing to like about this. The colours work together nicely, but this whole look is so confusing. One, the cut does not look good on her. Two, neither does the lipstick. Three, she looks 43. Four, those are not the shoes to wear to the Grammys. Five, is the dress beautiful? Yes it is. But it's simply not meant for the Grammys. This is just not working for her.

How do I begin to explain why I strongly dislike this? The cut on the dress is actually isn't bad except the horrible cut at the bottom part of the dress. It wouldn't have been as bad if it weren't for that hairstyle. Oh no. What kind of hair stylist would let her make that decision? Okay, technically, it's actually a pretty stunning do. But does that work on her? No. Does it work with the dress? Aw heeeelllll to the no.

This dress definitely caught me off guard. Rihanna did pull off quite the head-turning dress with this, and it did really mark this year's Grammys Red Carpet fashion. It is a shocking fashion statement made by one of the most powerful female artists ever, but oh come on now. I'm not going to say I like this or honour or adore this because I don't! The pink is nice on her skin tone, but what's with the crazy puff situation here? She looks beautiful, don't get me wrong. But oh, it should've been a much different dress.

What is going on with this dress??? I do not like this look at all on Ariana. I love her, and think she still looks gorgeous in any situation, but this dress! The "Break Free" music video is kind of over, darling. The clutch is nice, but what is going on? This dress would've been nicer without the silver outburst there. This isn't the worst look on the Worst Dressed list, obviously. I just think Ariana could have done better!

So that's all I have to say about the Grammys 2015 red carpet looks! I hope you enjoyed this brief review on the fashion looks of the year's Grammys. I did enjoy the event, so I'm very glad that some artists really outdid themselves.

What did you think of the red carpet fashion in the Grammys this year? Do you agree or disagree with my thoughts above? Leave a comment below, I'd love to hear what you have to say!
